Ideal for Homeschool Pods, Families, or Friends Learning Together
Live, Interactive, Fun and Effective Arabic Classes for Groups in Any Location
Critical Language Service offers an innovative approach to Arabic language learning, allowing groups of students to gather in almost any location—or even multiple locations—to participate in live classes taught by qualified Arabic instructors via Zoom.
This format is ideal for families, homeschool groups, learning pods, and any 2 or more students who wish to learn Arabic together.
All essential course materials, except for physical textbooks, are provided online through the Canvas learning management system. Our program is designed to accommodate mixed age groups, with students as young as five years old welcome to join.
The curriculum is flexible, with customized learning paths tailored to the unique needs of each class. Students have the option to take exams, and upon course completion, each student receives a PDF report card detailing their performance in homework assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams.
Consistent, Immersive Language Education
Classes are scheduled according to an agreed-upon timetable and are taught by a regular, native Arabic-speaking instructor. Most independent groups opt for 2 to 3 hours of study per week, translating to 8 to 12 hours per month, with additional homework assignments completed using Critical Language Service's online materials between lessons.
Enrollment is flexible, allowing students to sign up on a monthly basis, providing the freedom to take breaks as needed. For smaller classes with fewer than five students, three hours of weekly lessons can be as effective as meeting five times a week in a traditional language class.
Incorporating Arabic into Your Schedule
Critical Language Service's highly qualified teachers specialize in online instruction, providing students with an immersive language experience. Because the teachers live and work from their home countries, they provide a global connection that enriches the learning environment and offers students a broader perspective on Arabic language and culture.
Lesson time is highly interactive. Teachers teach from specialized studios that allow them to be fully visible from the waist up and able to move and use body language to enhance their teaching. Similarly students are encouraged to move and engage in role plays, games and other physical learning activities with their teacher and each other.
Between lessons students are expected to use the digital learning materials in their Canvas course. These materials include video skits, cartoons for language learners, games, stories, listening materials, grammar tutorials and more. These materials assist students in both practicing lesson materials and in self paced lesson preparation.
Customizable Courses for Every Educational Level
Critical Language Service's programs cater to students from kindergarten through college and beyond, with materials and teaching methods tailored to different age groups.
Graded and ungraded options are available. Graded courses include regular assessments and exams, with grades based on exams, homework, projects, and class participation.
See our Curriculum and Sample Materials pages for more details and video examples of how we use these materials with real students.
Ensuring Every Learner Thrives
At Critical Language Service, we are dedicated to the success of every student. Our tech-integrated curriculum, combined with personalized support, ensures that each learner receives the guidance and resources they need to excel in Arabic.
In the words of one of our past students, "[With Critical Language Service], learning Arabic is not nearly as hard as people make it out to be. Everything is there for you and very geared towards anyone with the will to do it."
Although we are not currently accredited and cannot independently grant credit for Arabic courses, we can assist students in taking proficiency exams that may qualify for high school or college credit.
Interested in our Arabic lessons? Ready to start your own journey? Contact us today! Simply send us an email with the student’s details, including their background, goals, age, previous experience (if any), time zone, preferred lesson schedule, and availability for a Zoom meeting. Feel free to include any questions you have. Let’s begin your Arabic learning experience!
Keep an eye on your inbox for an email from one of our team, which should arrive shortly. This email will include answers to your questions and an invitation to a pre-intake Zoom meeting at one of the times you suggested.
During this meeting, we’ll discuss your goals and background, and you’ll receive guidance on how to prepare for a trial lesson. We’ll also schedule a date and time for your trial lesson with one of Critical Language Service’s Arabic teachers. If you don’t receive a response within 48 hours, please check your spam folder.
At Critical Language Service, we use a Flipped Learning approach. This method allows students to engage with interactive study materials before the lesson, replacing traditional lectures.
This ensures that class time is dedicated to active and interactive learning. To get the most out of your trial lesson, it’s crucial to spend at least 2 hours reviewing the assigned materials in the days leading up to it.
Get ready for your first lesson! About 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled time, you’ll receive a Zoom meeting invite via email. Simply click the link to join the session. Once the lesson begins, you’ll engage directly with your Arabic teacher, with most interactions conducted in Arabic—even for beginners.
For students who have reviewed the prep materials, the limited use of English won’t be an issue. As the lesson concludes, you’ll have a chance to meet with our director to discuss your experience and explore signing up for ongoing lessons. Lesson prices vary based on class size and weekly hours of instruction. Our current prices are listed on the pricing page of this website.
Our director will work with you to schedule your regular lessons at times that suit you. These lessons will follow the agreed-upon schedule. Students can choose to attend classes from a single room with the teacher on one monitor, or from different locations with each student logging in on their own device.
Start speaking Arabic from day one with our immersive classes, where teachers speak Arabic 90% of the time. Students will access course materials through Canvas, our learning management system. The link for each day’s class is posted on Canvas 5 to 10 minutes before the session begins. Regardless of the class format, it’s important for students to have a touch-screen device, like an iPad or tablet, to access lesson materials and use as a writing tablet during lessons.
Classes are available on a monthly basis with payment due before the start of each new month. We understand that sometimes plans change, and you may need to cancel or reschedule a class. To do so, provide written notice at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. Make-up lessons must be completed within the same month in which the lessons are missed.
